Pack the Bus with Us Saturday, August 20th
Are you ready to Pack the Bus? Join RIFA on Saturday, August 20th from 9:00 AM – 3:30 PM at all Kroger and Walmart locations in Jackson and help us pack the bus to fight hunger.
Pack the Bus is a food drive event that works in conjunction with one of RIFA’s ministries, Snack Backpack. This ministry provides kid-friendly, easy-to-prepare, nutritious food to school-aged children who have little to no food over the weekends. The food collected from Pack the Bus will be used to fill each Snack Backpack.
Although children receive free breakfast and lunch at school throughout the week, many children go home to little or no food over the weekends. RIFA provides Snack Backpacks to over 1,300 children at 13 elementary schools each week during the school year. Each Snack Backpack provides a child with six meals and two snacks.
The next time you’re grocering shopping, grab a few of these items and help us pack the bus.
- Pop-Tarts
- Ramen Noodles (chicken or beef)
- Microwavable Popcorn (individually wrapped)
- Apple Sauce (with foil lids)
- Oatmeal (single-serve packs)
- Chicken Noodle Soup (with pop-tops)
- Macaroni and Cheese (individual packets/ bowls)
- Ravioli (with pop-tops)
You can check out the Snack Backpack page by scanning the QR code on our Pack the Bus posters or on our website. Then, join us on August 20th to drop off your donations. Look for the school bus parked outside each Jackson Kroger and Walmart location and watch your donations pack the bus.
